Sample Audio Abstracts: Guided Psychedelic Meditation, Discussion Groups, and The 1969 Berkeley Lectures, Featuring Everyone's Favorite Psychedelic Psychologist, Timothy Leary
Drop out of the rat-race ~ blow the mind of every straight person you can reach ~ turn them on to peace, love, beauty, and acid.
Immediately preceding his campaign for the governorship of California in 1970 Leary had been playing the college lecture circuit game for several years, culminating in a series of "lectures" or "happenings" ~ spontaneous events that Leary sometimes referred to as "our circus" or "the gathering of the tribe" ~ at the University of California in Berkeley. In actuality it was the latest iteration of Leary's overarching "messianic mission" being discussed under the rubric Visions of The Erotic Life, in which Leary saw himself merely as the ringmaster guiding his tribe through an interactive theatrical performance, festival, or ceremony ~ the sacred dance of life. During these events, Leary, with the assistance of elder members within the psychedelic counterculture, began discussing the emergence of a new, highly-evolved, angelogic transcendental lifestyle, paradigm, and hyper-reality ~ an Aquarian-Age psychedelic utopian intercollective tribal community and church to take root in ~ where mystico-mimetic plants would be legal to employ as religious sacraments ~ hoping to eventually obtain legal permission to expand their consciousness.
Leary had a quart jar of sugar paste into which he had infused a gram of Sandoz LSD. He had smeared this goo all over his increasingly abstract consciousness. He smeared it into the consciousness of everyone who visited him at the Millbrook Castalia Foundation the entire time he lived there. The mouth of that jar became perhaps the most significant of the fumaroles from which the ‘’60s blew forth. -- (John Barlow)
A community that orbited around experimenting and exploring the benefits of boundary-dissolving entheogenic substances, meditation, and providing guidance, information, and counseling to new members ~ instructing them in the proper way to "turn on" ~ emphasizing set and setting ~ in order to realize and perceive the optimal amount of existential insights, expanded awareness, and spiritual enlightenment.
With Timothy Leary at the controls it was bound to be a radical, paradigm-shifting, metaphysical adventure out of the mind ~ beyond familiar reality ~ into states of ecstatic transcendent hyperawareness ~ an epic mystical voyage into the ethereal universal synchronet of interconnectivity. The intrepid explorers involved in it were like the Lewis and Clark of the Mind ~ on a never-ending expedition into the uncharted far reaches of consciousness, hyperspace realities, and extraterrestrial landscapes. We are given glimpses of grace, infinity, luminous hyperdimensionalities.
We delightedly steered the train off its rails and accelerated full-throttle into the rarified fifth-dimensional spiritual superspace, which despite its alien phantasmagorical otherworldliness, feels more like home than anything we've ever experienced in the physical three-dimensional plane. A strong attractor was inviting us toward higher planes of consciousness ~ the primordial, integrative connexus of extraterrestrial hyperintelligence ~ and higher celestial planes of existence ~ where "mirabile dictu!" ~ wisdom, insight, intuition ~ Oneness, Wholeness, and Love-Energy ~ infinite rivers of Divine Light began streaming through the cosmic depths of our innermost being... we experienced something like the spiritual rebirth... we became part of the transcendental, omniscient, superconscious, oceanic matrix of God.
The Aquarian-Age, psychedelic, higher-consciousness movement looked to Leary for guidance, revering the older man as a guru. At the time, the High Priest of LSD was urging everyone to start their own church. This seemed like an excellent idea to the members of the higher consciousness movement (IFIF) ~ The International Foundation for Internal Freedom, the Brotherhood of Eternal Love, and the hippies. The various movements all shared a common objective: to bring to the world a greater awareness of God through the teachings of Jesus Christ, Buddha, Babaji, Ramakrishna, Paramahansa Yogananda, Gandhi and all the true prophets and oracles of God . . . and to spread the love and wisdom of these great teachers to all men. . ."We believe this church to be an earthly instrument of God's will. We believe in the sacred right of each individual to commune with God in spirit and in truth as it is empirically revealed to him."
Leary's experimental psychedelic neoshamanic spiritual community eventually settled near a seaside resort called Laguna Beach. It was the pure heavenly scene ~ a higher spiritual dimension ~ an electric beach commune tucked against sculpted sandstone hills rising a mile above the Pacific. The breathtaking majestic landscape attracted an artist colony, and the Brotherhood of Eternal Love provided plenty of LSD, peyote, and psilocybin mushrooms for a growing Freaktown, where hippies danced barefoot and naked across beaches and mountains murmuring, "Thank you God." In this exquisite utopian setting tribal seekers of a higher spiritual truth hoped to eventually be formally recognized as a tax-exempt entity, church and religious organization ~ an accepted spiritual way of life ~ eventually obtaining legal permission from the government to employ a broad spectrum of "mystico-mimetic" ego-dissolving, entheogenic plants and chemicals for use as communal sacraments to accelerate esoteric, mystical, and cathartic processes of purification, enlightenment, transformation, and the expansion of human consciousness.
It was a bizarre melange of evangelical starry eyed hippie dealers, (the lords of acid), mystic alchemists, and drug prophets who were fired with idealism and committed to changing the world by disseminating large quantities of psychedelic drugs. Leary's League of Spiritual Discovery and The Brotherhood of Eternal Love hoped that through obtaining any level of approval from the government, they may, at some point, be allowed to employ psychedelics as religious sacraments ~ in spiritual ceremonies, vision quest journeys, and to enhance meditation ~ in much the same way that Indians of the Native American Church are currently approved to use peyote.
The government's main problem was that they understood all too well, it would be impossible for them to continue operating as warmongers, fascists, and criminals if the majority of the population had their intelligence elevated and their consciousness expanded on psychedelic plants and chemicals.
Leary and the Brotherhood believed it might be possible to incrementally, and, therefore, imperceptibly move the government and law enforcement agencies in the direction of a more progressive, open-minded, and permissive attitude toward psychedelics and entheogenic technologies ~ eventually arriving at their ultimate objective: total, comprehensive rescindment of all criminalization and prohibition laws against psychedelic plants and chemicals ~ full legalization for the general population (adults of legal age on properly zoned private property). Although this admittedly sounds unrealistic ~ even absurd ~ by today's societal norms, back before the drug wars, such a notion actually seemed feasible. Remember, before 1967 it was legal to order vials of pharmaceutical LSD from Sandoz.
Psychedelic plants, chemicals, meditations, and syncretic teachings are the keys to unlocking hidden doors within the mind that open into higher planes of consciousness and existence ~ ultra-advanced subatomic extraterrestrial utopian landscapes ~ luminous synchronous hyperdimensionalities ~ altered states of perception and awareness... they are the key to expanding and unfolding the mind into ecstatic states of universal transcendent consciousness ~ freeing the nervous system of its ordinary patterns and structures, limitations and boundaries ~ so that we can begin apprehending a galaxy of information that is incomprehensible to our linear minds.
Through a synergistic interfusion of technoshamanism and eastern mysticism; through ego-dissolving, perception-expanding, entheogenic, holistic technologies we embark on the epic transdimensional mystical odyssey.... Cutting through the physical three-dimensional fabric of space and time ~ we journey beyond the mind ~ beyond ordinary cognitive processes ~ into a superconscious extra-dimensional living matrix of spiritual interconnectivity ~ into the Gaialanic Overmind ~ the Oceanic Consciousness of God ~ the full-spectrum multidimensional existence.... We are transported to alternative paraphysical hyperspace realities ~ a realm of harmony, oneness, and synchronicity with the ebb and flow of subatomic cosmic-energies and the primordial extraterrestrial superconscious intercollective.
Our avowed aim is of course to bring down the American Empire. It's completely materialistic; completely devoted to the pursuit of illegal "preemptive warfare" ~ the subversion, conquest and exploitation of democratically elected foreign governments accomplished through CIA orchestrated coup-dé-tas ~ illegal resource extraction ~ producing and consuming automobiles and televisions.... and, of course, metal and steel power throughout the planet.
"Through meditation, the transcendental entheological integrative experience, and tribal psychedelic communities the only purpose of life will become the seeking of what we are here to find: the state of radiant, loving bliss. The name of the game, of course, will be to control our hedonic machinery ~ the ability to move our level of euphoria, ecstasy, or bliss-consciousness up and down at will."

After the January 14, 1967 Human Be-In in San Francisco organized by artist Michael Bowen, the media's attention on the 1960's psychedelic counterculture was fully activated. In 1967 Scott McKenzie's rendition of the song "San Francisco Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair" brought as many as 100,000 young people from all over the world to celebrate San Francisco's "Summer of Love." The song, originally written to promote the August 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, became an instant hit worldwide and quickly transcended its original purpose.
San Francisco's flower children, experimented with psychedelic drugs, lived communally and developed a vibrant music scene. When people returned home from "The Summer of Love" these styles and behaviors spread quickly from San Francisco and Berkeley to many US and Canadian cities and European capitals. Some hippies formed psychedelic Aquarian-Age tribal communes to live as far outside of the established system as possible. This aspect of the counterculture rejected active political engagement with the mainstream and, following the directive of Dr. Timothy Leary to "Turn off the mind, float downstream" and "Turn on, tune in, drop out," hoped to change society by dropping out of it. >>>> {Listen to "A Tale of The Tribe" from "Beyond Life With Timothy Leary" on YouTube} <<<<

Embark on a billion year journey into The Pure White Light with Timothy Leary ~ Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out ~ (Parts 1 & 2 -videoes)
During the 1960s, this second group of casual (LSD) users evolved and expanded into a subculture that extolled the mystical and religious symbolism often engendered by the drug's powerful effects, and advocated its use as a method of raising consciousness. The personalities associated with the subculture, gurus such as Timothy Leary and psychedelic rock musicians such as the Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, The Byrds, Ultimate Spinach, Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Doors, Blue Cheer, Jefferson Airplane and The Beatles soon attracted a great deal of publicity, generating even further interest in LSD.
The popularization of LSD outside of the professional world of medical academia was hastened when individuals such as Ken Kesey participated in drug trials and liked what they saw. Tom Wolfe wrote a widely read account of these early days of LSD's entrance into the non-academic world in his book The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test, which documented the cross-country, acid-fueled voyage of Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters on the psychedelic bus "Furthur," as well as the Pranksters' subsequent "Acid Test" LSD parties.

Timothy Leary and his Harvard research team had hopes for potential changes in society. The Research began with mushrooms (psilocybin) and was called the Harvard Mushroom Project. -- (The Harvard Psilocybin Project video)
Because of the personal experiences with these drugs Leary and his many outstanding colleagues, Aldous Huxley (the Doors of Perception) and Alan Watts (the Joyous Cosmology) believed that these were the mechanisms that could bring peace to not only the nation but the world. Peace in a time of war, their timing seemed to be perfect. As their research continued the media followed them and published their work and documented their behavior, the trend of this counterculture drug experimentation began.

Leary made attempts to bring more organized awareness to people interested in the study of psychedelics He confronted the Senate committee in Washington and recommended for colleges to authorize the conduction of laboratory courses in psychedelics. Leary noted that these courses would "end the indiscriminate use of LSD and would be the most popular and productive courses ever offered."
Although these men were seeking the Ultimate Enlightenment, reality eventually proved that the potential they thought was there, could not be reached... at least in this time. The change they sought for the world had not been permitted by the political systems of all the nations these men pursued their research in. Ram Dass states, "Tim and I actually had a chart on the wall about how soon everyone would be enlightened... We discovered that real change is harder. We downplayed the fact that "ego death" and the psychedelic experience is not for everyone."

The use of plant based psychedelics to attain altered states of consciousness has been known to man for as long as ... it's anyone's guess. Our psychedelic history, which remains unknown to most who have settled for the easy answer: Drugs ... with little or no awareness of ego-dissolving, mind expanding, perception altering entheogens, or the fact that they have been known to the ancients as "Food of the Gods," ingested to awaken the divine presence within ... Plant based psychedelics have, in fact, been the catalyst in human evolution and continue to nourish the soul's need for wholeness.
There are some of us who have had the courage and curiosity to venture into the unknown; they are the ones that have come back to tell us about magical experiences in the realms of the metaphysical.... Everything changes once light shines into the darkness.... once we make the unknown, known !
Ancient medicine men or Shamans have always known the power of attaining altered states of consciousness to heal, have visionary experiences, see the future, astral travel and time travel to other worlds and commune with divine entities, nature spirits.... transdimensional non physical beings of light ! -- (Ralph Metzner)
